My adventures in sewing (specifically hemming, in this case) continue! Over the weekend, I was gifted a vintage gold skirt from my boyfriend’s mother. I liked the color and the lace detail, but the fit wasn’t ideal, so I changed it! My methods were FAR from professional, but I got the job done and now I have another skirt to add to my closet! See below for my modest how-to.
I determined where I wanted to position the lace on the finished skirt, then pinned it accordingly inside out. I sewed the inside out lace to the top layer of fabric on the skirt (laid out above).
Above you can see what the pinned lace portion looked like when flipped right-side-out (almost exactly what it looked like after it had been sewn on properly).
Once everything was sewn, the skirt was ready to wear! What do you think?
