Happy Halloween! This lovely blurred image is a result of the Halloween party I threw with my roommates last weekend – great success! When I suggested dressing up as Ash Ketchum and Pikachu, my half Japanese (and former Pokemon enthusiast) boyfriend was pretty keen on the idea. Best part about these costumes is that they cost us less than $30 in TOTAL to create!
His vest and hat were thrift store finds (although the hat was technically new, used hats make me nervous), and I ended up sewing my costume by hand (couldn’t find a bobbin for my sewing machine…) from a $10 sheet set I found on sale at Target. Tail and all. The skirt/waist elastic was from the fitted sheet, the hood was from the pillow case, and the black details were leftover felt I cut out and glued on.
Not bad, eh? Tonight we are celebrating by seeing “Nightmare Before Christmas” in 4D at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. I’ve been told that it actually “snows” in the theater when it snows in the movie! Crazyyy.
Have a very safe and spooky Halloween everyone!
